GrantRound

Questions, Answered Straight

Is GrantRound a government site?

No. GrantRound is an independent tool that reads the public Grants.gov database. We are not affiliated with Grants.gov or any federal agency, and we never charge you to apply for a grant — applications on Grants.gov are always free.

Who can use GrantRound?

Anyone eligible for federal grants: nonprofits, small businesses, schools, local governments, tribal organizations, and individuals. Tell the Grant Matchmaker what your organization does and it checks each listing's eligibility in the listing's own words.

Do you guarantee we'll win a grant?

No, and be suspicious of anyone who does. Grants are competitive. GrantRound saves you the search time and makes sure a fitting deadline never slips past you — the application is still yours to write and win.

Where does the grant data come from?

Directly from the official Grants.gov public API, refreshed daily. Every result links to the official listing so you can verify eligibility, amounts and deadlines at the source. Fit summaries are generated from the official listing data and labelled as summaries — the official listing always controls.

What grants are included?

U.S. federal grants open to your organization type. Foundation and state grants are not included yet — we'd rather do federal well than everything badly.

How do refunds and cancellation work?

Cancel within 7 days of your first subscription — from Self Service, no email or forms — and the account closes with a full refund. After the first 7 days, cancel anytime from Self Service or the billing portal; you and your team keep full access until the end of the paid period.

What happens to my data if I leave?

It's yours. While your account is open, any primary user can export everything in one click from Self Service — one JSON file with your profile, pipeline, workflow history, and every grant record. If your organization changes hands, the owner can transfer ownership (and all the data with it) to another primary user instead of starting over. After an account closes, we retain the records for 3 years and will provide an export on request by email, so you can meet your own record-retention duties.

What happens after we win a grant?

On Pro and Premium, the grant's record continues past the deadline: the submission confirmation and tracking number, the award terms (confirmed by a primary user against the Notice of Award), a reporting schedule with reminder emails before every report is due, and a closeout checklist that computes how long your records must be kept. Declined instead? A short debrief captures the funder's feedback for next time.

We have no grant writer. Is this for us?

Yes — that's exactly who GrantRound is built for. If you can describe your mission in two sentences, the Grant Matchmaker can match you. The summaries are written for first-timers, not grant professionals.
